Beyond Borders: Strengthening Global Networks for Aquatic Biodiversity Conservation

Join Dr. Melissa Beata Martin as she shares key highlights from her tenure as a Hugh Kelly Fellow, where she integrated research, teaching, and community engagement to advance aquatic biodiversity conservation. This talk will cover her contributions to taxonomy and systematics, including the discovery and reclassification of freshwater species, innovative teaching strategies for undergraduate and postgraduate students, and the role of citizen science in biodiversity monitoring.

Dr. Martin will also explore the broader impact of fostering international collaborations, particularly strengthening ties between Southern Africa and Asian research institutions, and how these partnerships can benefit students and researchers alike. The session promises valuable insights for researchers, postdocs, and postgraduates interested in taxonomy, conservation, and interdisciplinary approaches to aquatic science.
