The South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (SAIAB) is looking to appoint a panel of service providers to extract data on the identity, abundance and size of marine organisms from videos and photographs collected with baited remote underwater stereo-video systems and remotely operated vehicles from marine environments for a period of two (2) years.
The service will include work associated with metadata and data management, quality control and quality assurance in the field and laboratory. The service providers are expected to have: a post-graduate degree in marine biology (or related field); prior experience with the annotations of stereo-BRUVs and ROV samples, in depth knowledge of EventMeasure and CAL software and video annotation protocols.
Furthermore, the service providers require expertise in the identification of fishes from the South West Indian Ocean and the required resources to work from home.
