Following the success of the first Post-Survey Workshop on Taxonomy Research in 2024, the EAF-Nansen Programme of Norway/FAO once again partners with the NRF–South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (NRF-SAIAB) to host the Second EAF-Nansen Programme Post-Survey Workshop on Taxonomy Research in Makhanda, South Africa, from 10 to 21 November 2025.
As part of this two-week event, participants will present their research, experiences, and insights in a full-day session on Thursday, 20 November. The presentations will highlight how taxonomy and scientific collaboration contribute to sustainable, science-based, and ecosystem-oriented fisheries management.
Attendees can look forward to a dynamic programme featuring:
- Oral and poster presentations by workshop participants.
- Networking segments connecting students, researchers, and local stakeholders.
- Informal discussions over coffee and refreshments.
This event showcases the EAF-Nansen Programme’s continuing commitment to strengthening capacity in marine taxonomy and biodiversity research in developing countries, while inspiring collaboration among Africa’s next generation of marine scientists.
